It is an important scientific edifice for a university the size of Imam Jaafar al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him), and its building was developed by the university to provide the required service for students. The Central Library of Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him) was established in 2001 AD / 1432 AH with the aim of providing information and its various sources to supplement academic disciplines and serve the learning process by meeting the needs of its pioneers from university students, faculty members and researchers from inside and outside the university. In organizing its library collections, the University Library relies on universally recognized rules and regulations. It uses KOHA indexing rules in addition to the Dewey Decimal Classification System, which divided knowledge into ten main sections and arranged their collections. The library includes nearly ten thousand different book titles in all fields and specializations of the college departments, including religions (the sciences of the Qur’an, the sciences of hadith, the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an, the biography of the Prophet, the biography of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), Islamic jurisprudence, the principles of Islamic religion, Christianity and other religions). History, biography (biographies of historical figures), Arabic and English literature (Arabic poetry, Arabic and English novels, and plays), law, computers, sociology, philosophy, psychology, ethics, logic and other miscellaneous topics.
The Structure of the Library Building
The area of the central library of Imam Jaafar al-Sadiq University (peace be upon him) is approximately (four hundred square meters) of the university’s area with three floors, and it includes reading halls, book stores and multiple departments, and it can accommodate more than sixty thousand books, as well as an electronic virtual library. The First Floor contains:
- The large hall, which includes libraries of books, numbering (16) libraries, and each library contains (20) shelves and reading tables (10) and chairs (50) chairs and computer cabinets for the purpose of searching for books in the library
- Room No. (1) for storing books with repeated copies of the books displayed in the large hall. It includes (20) wooden libraries.
- Room No. (2) storing books from the publications of Dar Al-Islam / the founding body of the university.
- Room No. (3) includes books donated from Baghdad, the capital of culture.
- Room No. (4) Electricity Control of the Central Library.

The Second Floor contains:
The large hall for the purpose of reading, holding seminars, holding scientific conferences and seminars, and the existing and completed workshops at the University of Imam Jaafar al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), which contains a large screen, rectangular tables, leather chairs, and all the requirements for the purpose of reading and reviving conferences and workshops.
