The University's Library

The library of Imam Jafar Al-Sadiq (p) University was established in the year 2011, in a huge building with an area of approximately 400 square meters, with three stories. The idea of its establishment came from the necessity of creating a feeling in the hearts of the university’s pioneers that the book represents part of our lives, and that reading is a sign of progress, advancement and development. The library consists more than 20,000 hard cover books of a variety of cultures, sciences and all knowledge, as well as a huge virtual library of up to 100,000 titles.

The University's library relies on the organization of its library collections on internationally recognized rules and regulations. It uses the Dewey Decimal Classification System, which divided knowledge into ten main sections to arrange its collections.

The library building also contains many multi-functional halls for reading, holding seminars, scientific conferences, workshops organized by the University, and other cultural and scientific events.

The University's library is a valuable cultural forum that attracts all cultural elites, as well as researchers, specialists, and pioneer students. Senior academics and scholars have dedicated their specialized libraries to it because of its great consideration in their hearts, including:

  • The private library of the late historian Dr. Hussein Amin, which includes composed historical books, with original editions and valuable manuscripts, in addition to his holdings and photos, and a special wing has been dedicated to them in the library in his name.
  • The private library of the late Mr. Baqir Al-Hashemi, a library that includes engineering and scientific books.
  • Dr. Samir Kazem Al-Khalil's teaching library at the College of Arts, which includes valuable literary and poetic books.

The library of Imam Jafar Al-Sadiq (p) University has independent buildings in each of its branches in the governorates, because the role of libraries in all university branches is similar to the role of scientific departments where students find answers to their questions, and the possibility of referring to it at any time.
